PTL LTD – Technical Support Engineer

An opportunity has arisen for interested candidates to join PTL Ltd as a Technical Support Engineer to assume full responsibility of the calls assigned at Level 2 for our growing customer base.

Based in Malta, the chosen candidate will be part of the Technical Solutions team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, highly available IT architectures that meet business objectives and SLAs.

The role involves troubleshooting software and hardware issues to resolve technical customer problems within established Service Level Objectives. Additionally, the chosen candidate will assist in streamlining internal procedures to resolve issues more quickly, monitor antivirus, patching and backup regimes, and maintain relevant technical documentation. While most of the support may be performed remotely from PTL offices, the job requires onsite support and face to face interactions with clients.

Responsibilities include:

  • Format, install, and configure end-user devices
  • Install and configure Office applications and other 3rd party software
  • Connect and configure peripherals to end-user devices
  • Perform basic server administration
  • Maintain asset registers
  • Maintain technical documentation
  • Monitor systems and services for managed services customers
  • Monitor and deploy antivirus updates, and operating system patches
  • Provide Level 2 support
  • Incident and Problem Management
  • Receive and acknowledge alerts determining the priority and urgency of issues
  • Gather the necessary information from other teams and troubleshoot end-user and server issues
  • Appropriately escalate priority issues and unresolved issues to appropriate Level 3 support
  • Communicate frequently with end-user or client on the status of the issue

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

The preferred candidate will possess at least 6 months of prior experience in providing support on end-user devices and basic server administration.

  • At least MQF level diploma in IT, ITIL Foundation, and/or equivalent recognised technical qualifications
  • 6 months related experience
  • Knowledge in desktop operating systems (Windows/MAC)
  • Basic understanding of networking
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365
  • Familiarity with server-side services

Technical Skills:

  • Good troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to follow operational procedures and processes
  • Ability to perform adequate research for issue resolution
